Strut Tower Braces

A strut tower brace, also called a strut brace or strut bar, connects structural points around the suspension towers. Its purpose is to increase rigidity between those mounting areas and reduce relative movement as loads pass through the suspension and chassis.

Body mount bushes are used on vehicles where the body is mounted to a separate frame or chassis through dedicated mounting points. These bushes provide a connection between the two structures while still allowing a controlled degree of isolation and movement.

Original rubber body mounts can deteriorate, compress or soften with age. When this occurs, additional movement may develop between the body and chassis. Possible symptoms can include movement or noise around mounting areas, but these symptoms can also be caused by other worn components, loose hardware or structural issues, so inspection is important before diagnosing the bushes.

Whiteline body mount bushes use polyurethane as an alternative to the original rubber mounting material on compatible applications. Polyurethane can provide a firmer and more consistent mounting relationship, but a firmer material can also transmit more noise, vibration or harshness than a softer rubber mount depending on the application and vehicle. That trade-off should be considered when choosing replacement body mounts, particularly where ride refinement is a priority.

Door Jamb Bushes

Door jamb bushes are a separate chassis-parts category designed for selected applications. They shouldn't be confused with body mount bushes, suspension bushes or door seals, as they occupy a different location and perform an application-specific function around the door jamb assembly.

Because the exact arrangement varies by vehicle, choose door jamb bushes according to confirmed fitment rather than assuming they are a universal chassis-stiffening component.

Chassis Parts for Lifted 4WDs

Increasing 4WD ride height can affect components beyond the springs and shock absorbers. Depending on the vehicle and amount of lift, changes in suspension position can affect driveline geometry, headlight levelling systems, brake-related components and other systems connected to suspension movement.

Tailshaft Spacers

A tailshaft spacer is used on selected lifted 4WD applications where the change in ride height affects the operating relationship of the tailshaft and driveline. Whiteline's application notes describe these spacers as a way to correct tailshaft positioning after a suspension lift and help address driveline vibration on compatible vehicles.

A tailshaft spacer isn't required for every lifted 4WD, and driveline vibration can have other causes, including worn joints, damaged components, imbalance or other driveline geometry issues. If vibration appears after a suspension modification, the cause should be properly diagnosed before assuming a spacer is the solution.

Headlight Sensor Brackets

Some vehicles use suspension-linked height sensors as part of their automatic headlight levelling system. When suspension ride height changes, the relationship between the sensor and suspension can also change, which can affect the position from which the system operates.

A headlight sensor bracket provides an application-specific mounting solution where the sensor position needs to be addressed after a suspension modification. It should not be described as automatically guaranteeing safe or compliant headlight performance because the complete lighting system still needs to operate and be adjusted correctly.

Chassis Bush Wear

Worn body or chassis-related bushes can allow more movement at their mounting points, but symptoms alone aren't enough to identify a failed bush. Clunks, rattles, movement or changes in vehicle feel can also come from suspension bushes, ball joints, mounts, loose hardware, shock absorbers or other chassis and suspension components.

Visual inspection can help identify cracking, deterioration, deformation or excessive movement around a bush or mounting point. Where the cause isn't clear, have the chassis and suspension inspected by a qualified technician rather than replacing components based solely on a noise or handling symptom.

This is particularly important when several suspension or chassis components are being upgraded at the same time. Identifying existing wear before installation gives you a clearer baseline and helps avoid expecting a new chassis component to correct an unrelated fault.

Chassis Part Installation

Installation requirements vary significantly across car chassis parts. Some bushes require specialised removal and pressing procedures, while braces may bolt to existing mounting locations or require additional installation work depending on the application. Ride-height changes can affect other systems, including brake lines, ABS wiring, handbrake cables and CV shaft operating angles. Check the complete setup rather than considering each modification in isolation, and confirm the current modification requirements that apply where the vehicle is registered.
