Give your rear brake hose the movement it needs after lifting your 4WD with Whiteline brake line extension mounts. These application-specific components reposition the factory brake line mounting arrangement where increased suspension height can otherwise leave the original hose routing with insufficient movement.
Whiteline brake line kits are lift-kit accessories rather than replacement braided, hard or flexible brake line assemblies. Depending on the application, the extension may use a spacer, tube or bracket arrangement to change the factory mounting position while retaining the existing brake hose.
What Does a Brake Line Extension Mount Do?
A brake line extension mount changes the position of an existing brake line or hose mounting point on compatible lifted vehicles. This provides additional room for the factory hose to move as the suspension travels through its operating range.
Whiteline describes these components as a solution for vehicles where lifting creates limitations in the available movement of brake lines and other related components.
The extension mount doesn't replace the complete brake hose and shouldn't be confused with a braided brake line upgrade or replacement hard-line kit. Its job is to alter the mounting arrangement so the existing line has appropriate movement for the compatible lifted setup.
Whiteline uses several different extension designs depending on the original mounting arrangement, so the correct solution needs to be selected by vehicle and fitting position.
Why Can a Lift Kit Stretch a Rear Brake Hose?
Increasing suspension height can change the relationship between the chassis, axle and suspension components. As the suspension extends, the distance between brake hose mounting points can also change.
Whiteline notes that on some lifted vehicles, components including brake lines, handbrake cables and ABS leads have limits to their available movement. If that movement isn't accounted for, the component can potentially be stretched far enough to cause damage.
This means a hose that appears to have enough slack while the vehicle is sitting at normal ride height may need further assessment as the suspension moves away from that position.
A compatible brake line extension bracket or spacer changes the relevant mounting arrangement so the factory brake hose has additional room to accommodate the modified suspension setup.
How Can You Tell if a Brake Hose Is Too Tight After a Lift?
Brake hose routing should be inspected after changing suspension height. Look for a hose that appears unusually taut, twisted, pinched or positioned where it can rub against surrounding components.
The hose also needs enough movement for the suspension and steering configuration in which it operates. Checking it only with the vehicle sitting at normal ride height may not reveal what happens as the suspension extends.
Where it can be performed safely using appropriate workshop procedures, the brake hose routing should be assessed through the relevant suspension movement. The hose shouldn't be pulled tight or forced into contact with components that could damage it.
Do not continue driving with a brake hose that is visibly damaged, leaking or otherwise suspected to be unsafe. The hydraulic brake system is safety-critical, so uncertain hose condition or routing should be inspected by a qualified technician.
Brake Line Extension Mounts or Longer Brake Hoses?
A brake line extension mount and a longer replacement brake hose address hose movement in different ways.
An extension mount retains the compatible factory hose and changes its mounting position to provide the movement required by a particular lifted configuration. Whiteline uses this approach on selected applications where relocating or spacing the mounting arrangement provides the required solution.
A longer brake hose replaces the existing flexible hose with one designed to provide additional length. Whether that approach is required depends on the vehicle, suspension configuration, available hose movement and applicable installation requirements.
There isn't a universal lift height at which a vehicle automatically changes from needing an extension bracket to needing a longer hose. Two suspension setups with similar increases in ride height can have different travel, routing and mounting arrangements.
Use the solution specified for the particular application and confirm that the brake hose has appropriate movement throughout the relevant suspension travel. Any replacement brake hose must also be suitable for the vehicle and comply with the applicable requirements for where the vehicle is registered and used.
What's Included in a Brake Line Extension Kit?
Whiteline uses several types of hardware to extend or relocate rear brake line mounting points. The exact configuration depends on the original brake line arrangement.
Insert-Style Brake Line Extension Mounts
Some applications use a single insert-style component to alter the original mounting arrangement. This provides a compact solution where the required change can be achieved without a larger bracket assembly.
Tube Spacer Brake Line Extensions
Other applications use tube spacers with bolts and washers. The spacer changes the position of the relevant mounting point while the supplied hardware secures the new arrangement.
Bracket-Style Brake Line Extensions
A third configuration uses a dedicated bracket with bolts, washers and nuts to reposition the relevant brake line mounting arrangement.
These different designs perform the same broad role but aren't interchangeable universal parts. Always select the application-specific brake line extension specified for the vehicle and suspension setup.
Lift Kit Brake Components and Driveline Checks
Brake hose movement is only one consideration when increasing 4WD suspension height. Other cables, wiring and driveline components can also be affected by changes in suspension position and travel.
ABS Components can address ABS lead routing where a compatible lift leaves the original wiring under excessive tension. Handbrake Parts perform a similar role for parking-brake cable mounting on selected applications.
Some lifted vehicles also require attention around the rear brake proportioning arrangement. Brake Valve Linkage components are designed for compatible vehicles where the relationship between ride height and the load-sensing brake system needs to be corrected after lifting.
Outside the braking system, Diff Drop Kits, driveline components and application-specific suspension arms may also form part of a properly considered 4WD suspension setup.
Shop Brake Line Kits with Whiteline
Shop brake line extension mounts with Whiteline when your compatible lifted 4WD requires additional movement around the factory rear brake hose mounting arrangement. Choose the correct application-specific spacer, extension or bracket rather than assuming a generic replacement brake line is required.
Use Whiteline's vehicle search to confirm fitment before ordering. Because brake hose condition and routing are safety-critical, have the installation inspected by a qualified technician if you're uncertain whether the factory hose has sufficient movement after lifting.
Whiteline brake extension components are covered by the applicable Whiteline product warranty, with Fitment Guarantee and 30 Day Returns providing additional confidence when selecting compatible parts.
Brake line kits sit within our brake parts range. ABS leads and handbrake cables need room too, so check our ABS components and handbrake parts.
If you're unsure which brake line extension suits your suspension setup, contact the Whiteline team for fitment and technical assistance.

When Lifting your vehicle, sometimes it isn't just the suspension system you need to consider, on some vehicles there are limitations with things like brake lines, handbrake cables and ABS leads and how much movement they have. Whiteline has a solution to ensure your brake lines, handbrake cables and or ABS leads are not stretched to the point of causing damage. A simple easy to fit spacer will ensure your brake lines, handbrake cables and or ABS leads will remain safe once your vehicle is lifted.Rear Brake Line - Extension Mount Kit to Suit Mitsubishi Triton MQ-MV and Nissan Navara D27
