Protect ABS wiring from excessive tension after lifting your 4WD with Whiteline ABS wire extension and relocation components. These application-specific kits reposition or extend the mounting arrangement for factory ABS leads where increased suspension height can leave the original routing with insufficient movement.
Whiteline ABS components are lift-kit accessories rather than replacement ABS sensors, pumps or control modules. Their purpose is to help maintain suitable ABS wire routing after a suspension lift, reducing the risk of factory leads being stretched as the suspension moves.
What Do ABS Wire Extension Kits Do?
An ABS wire extension kit provides additional positioning or movement for the factory ABS wiring on compatible lifted vehicles. Depending on the application, this can involve relocating an existing mounting point with brackets or extending the mounting arrangement with spacer hardware.
The ABS sensor and original wiring remain part of the vehicle's ABS system. These kits don't replace the ABS sensor or change how the anti-lock braking system operates. Instead, they address the physical routing of the ABS lead where suspension changes have altered the relationship between its mounting points.
Correct fitment is application-specific, so an ABS wire extension or relocation component should be selected for the vehicle and suspension configuration rather than treated as a universal extension.
Why Can a Lift Kit Stretch ABS Sensor Wires?
Increasing suspension height can change the distance and movement between suspension components, axles and the chassis. On some vehicles, the original ABS lead routing may not provide enough movement for the new suspension configuration.
Whiteline notes that when a vehicle is lifted, components such as ABS leads, brake lines and handbrake cables can have limitations in how much movement they allow. If the original ABS wiring is pulled beyond its intended range, it can be placed under excessive tension.
This becomes particularly important as the suspension moves through its travel. A lead that appears to have enough slack while the vehicle is sitting at normal ride height may be placed under greater tension as the suspension extends.
An application-specific ABS wire bracket or extension kit changes the relevant mounting position to provide suitable routing for the lifted setup.
Can a Stretched ABS Wire Trigger an ABS Warning Light?
Damage to ABS sensor wiring or its electrical connections can potentially cause an ABS fault or warning light, but an illuminated ABS warning light doesn't automatically mean the wire has been stretched by a suspension lift.
ABS faults can have several causes. Depending on the vehicle, the problem may involve a wheel-speed sensor, damaged wiring or connectors, a tone or reluctor ring, electrical faults or another component within the ABS system.
If an ABS warning light appears after suspension work, visually inspecting the ABS leads and their routing is a sensible part of the investigation, particularly if the vehicle has been lifted. Look for obvious tension, damaged insulation, disturbed connectors or wiring that is being pulled against surrounding components.
However, don't diagnose the problem from the warning light alone. ABS is part of the vehicle's braking system, so warning lights and suspected faults should be properly diagnosed by a qualified technician using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
Front ABS Wire Relocation and Rear Extension Kits
Whiteline uses different solutions according to the original ABS wire routing and suspension design. The front and rear kits therefore shouldn't be treated as interchangeable versions of the same universal spacer.
Front ABS Wire Relocation Kit
The front ABS wire relocation kit uses mounting hardware to reposition the factory ABS lead on compatible lifted applications.
Relocating the mounting position allows the factory wiring to follow a routing suited to the changed suspension arrangement without replacing the ABS sensor itself.
Rear ABS Wire Extension Kit
The rear ABS wire extension kit uses a simpler spacer-style arrangement to alter the relevant ABS wire mounting position on compatible rear suspension applications. Its configuration consists of 1 bolt, 1 tube and 2 washers.
Although both kits address ABS lead routing after a suspension lift, their designs reflect different mounting requirements. Always use the kit specified for the relevant application and fitting position.
How Do You Check ABS Wires After a Suspension Lift?
ABS lead routing should be checked as part of a broader inspection after suspension height has been changed. Don't assess the wiring only with the vehicle stationary at normal ride height, because suspension movement can change the distance between mounting points.
Inspect the lead along its routing and check that it isn't visibly stretched, trapped, twisted or rubbing against surrounding components. Particular attention should be paid to areas where the lead passes between components that move relative to each other as the suspension travels.
Where it can be done safely using appropriate workshop procedures, the routing should be assessed through the relevant suspension movement to confirm that the lead has sufficient movement without being pulled tight. This inspection should also consider nearby brake hoses and other cables affected by suspension travel.
Because ABS wiring is part of a safety-critical braking system, use a qualified technician if you're uncertain about routing, installation or the condition of an ABS lead. Any ABS warning light following suspension work should also be properly diagnosed rather than simply cleared.
Lift Kit Accessories for Brake and Driveline Setup
ABS wiring isn't the only component that may need attention when changing 4WD suspension height. The complete vehicle setup should be considered because additional suspension travel or altered component positions can affect other systems.
Depending on the vehicle and lift configuration, relevant components can include Brake Line Kits, Brake Valve Linkage and Handbrake Parts. These address different aspects of the braking and cable arrangement and should only be used where required for the application.
Other suspension and driveline components may also need to be considered. Diff Drop Kits and Tailshaft Spacers, for example, address different geometry or driveline considerations on compatible lifted vehicles rather than performing the same job as an ABS extension.
Shop ABS Components with Whiteline
Shop ABS wire extension and relocation components with Whiteline when your compatible 4WD lift requires the factory ABS lead mounting or routing to be repositioned. Select the correct kit according to the vehicle, fitting position and suspension setup rather than modifying the ABS wiring based on appearance alone.
ABS components are part of our brake parts range. Lifted or lowered? Brake line kits and handbrake parts cover the other lines that need slack.
Every Whiteline component is backed by our warranty, Fitment Guarantee and 60 Day Returns, giving you added confidence when selecting lift-kit accessories and suspension components.

When Lifting your vehicle, sometimes it isn't just the suspension system you need to consider, on some vehicles there are limitations with things like brake lines, handbrake cables and ABS leads and how much movement they have. Whiteline has a solution to ensure your brake lines, handbrake cables and or ABS leads are not stretched to the point of causing damage. A simple easy to fit spacer will ensure your brake lines, handbrake cables and or ABS leads will remain safe once your vehicle is lifted.Front ABS Wire - Relocation Kit to Suit Toyota Land Cruiser 76, 78 and 79 Series
