Whiteline bulk sway bar link bushes give workshops, tyre and suspension centres, and fleet operators a ready supply of polyurethane bushes for bolt-type sway bar links. Supplied as loose bushes in large trade packs, they make it quick and economical to fix clunking or rattling end links on the spot, without ordering individual kits for every job.
Worn or deteriorated link bushes may be small, but they have considerable influence over sway bar performance and vehicle handling. Fresh bushes restore a firm connection between the sway bar and suspension, removing noise and bringing back immediate sway bar response.
What Sway Bar Link Bushes Do
A sway bar (also called an anti-roll bar or stabiliser bar) reduces body roll by linking the left and right sides of the suspension. On bolt-type sway bar links, also called end links or drop links, bushes sit at each end of the link where it connects to the sway bar and the suspension arm or strut.
The bushes cushion each connection and allow a small amount of articulation, while holding the link firmly. When they wear, the sway bar must take up slack before it can resist roll. That makes its response slower and creates clunks and rattles.
Why Workshops Buy Link Bushes in Bulk
Sway bar link bushes are one of the most common causes of suspension noise, and one of the quickest repairs a workshop can make. Buying in bulk offers clear advantages:
- Lower cost per bush than individual link bush kits
- Immediate repairs, with no waiting for parts on common noise complaints
- Fewer reorders, saving time and freight
- Consistent quality from one trusted source
- Less packaging waste than individually boxed kits
What?s in a Bulk Link Bush Pack
Each bulk pack contains a large quantity of loose sway bar link bushes in a single size. Bushes are supplied without washers, pins or nuts, so workshops can pair them with the hardware they already stock, or reuse serviceable hardware where appropriate.
Each listing shows the bush dimensions and pack quantity.
Diagnosing Worn Sway Bar Link Bushes
Common symptoms of worn link bushes include:
- Clunks when driving into driveways or over uneven roads at low speed
- Clicks, knocks or rattles over small bumps
- Loose, imprecise handling and increased body roll
- A delayed feel when turning into corners
To confirm, inspect the links with the vehicle safely supported:
- Look for cracked, split, flattened or extruded bushes, where bush material has squeezed out from under the washers.
- Check washers for bending, dishing or corrosion.
- Grip each link and try to move it. Any free play or clunk indicates worn bushes or loose fasteners.
- Check the link pin for bending and the threads for damage.
Polyurethane Link Bushes and Washer Support
Whiteline link bushes are made from polyurethane with outstanding abrasion resistance, high load-bearing capability, flexibility and increased tensile strength. They resist oil, grease, ozone and weathering, so they hold their shape far longer than rubber. They also keep the link firm, delivering more immediate sway bar response.
Link bushes rely on properly shaped washers for support. Cupped washers cradle each bush, spread the clamping load evenly, and prevent the bush from squeezing out sideways under load. Fit undamaged washers of the correct size with every bush replacement, so the new bushes last as long as possible.
Choosing the Right Bulk Link Bushes
Match bulk bushes to the links you service most often:
- Outside diameter (OD): must match the washer size and suit the mounting points
- Inside diameter (ID): must suit the link pin diameter
- Length (L): the thickness of each bush
- Spigot: check that the bush locates correctly in the sway bar eye and the suspension mount
Review your job history to identify the most common sizes, and stock those first.
Replacing Sway Bar Link Bushes
A typical bolt-type link bush replacement procedure:
- Support the vehicle safely, ideally with the suspension at normal ride height, so the sway bar isn?t preloaded when the link is tightened.
- Remove the nuts, washers and old bushes from each end of the link.
- Clean the pin and mounting surfaces, and replace any damaged washers or pins.
- Reassemble each end in order: washer, bush, mount, bush, washer, with the cupped washers facing the bushes.
- Tighten the nuts evenly until the bushes are firmly clamped, following the vehicle or link manufacturer?s guidance. Avoid over-compression.
- Set the left and right links the same, and replace link bushes in pairs across the axle.
Vehicles and Applications
Bulk sway bar link bushes suit bolt-type sway bar links on a wide range of vehicles, including passenger cars, SUVs, 4WDs and 4x4s, utes, pick-ups and light commercial vehicles, as well as older and classic vehicles using common link designs.
Who Bulk Sway Bar Link Bushes Suit
Bulk link bushes suit independent mechanical and suspension workshops, and tyre and alignment centres that regularly diagnose suspension noise. They?re also used by fleet maintenance operators servicing passenger and light commercial vehicles, by 4WD workshops servicing links on lifted and off-road vehicles, and by resellers supplying link bushes to workshop customers.
